Trenton is a city located in Grundy County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 6,216. It is the county seat of Grundy County.

Trenton Geography:

Trenton is located at 40°4'42" North, 93°36'41" West (40.078230, -93.611436).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 15.9 km2 (6.1 mi2). 15.1 km2 (5.8 mi2) of it is land and 0.8 km2 (0.3 mi2) of it is water. The total area is 4.74% water.

Trenton Demographics:

As of the census of 2000, there are 6,216 people, 2,673 households, and 1,641 families residing in the city. The population density is 411.7/km2 (1,065.5/mi2). There are 3,059 housing units at an average density of 202.6/km2 (524.3/mi2). The racial makeup of the city is 97.20% White, 0.56% African American, 0.40% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.74% from other races, and 0.87% from two or more races. 2.14% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,673 households out of which 25.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.0% are married couples living together, 9.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.6% are non-families. 35.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.19 and the average family size is 2.81.

In the city the population is spread out with 22.0% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 23.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 83.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 80.4 males.
